Since our establishment in 1965, under the corporate philosophy of "We help people lead healthy lives by offering excellent pharmaceuticals" and "Our corporate growth is proportional to our personal growth", we have contributed to society by providing pharmaceuticals that help people improve and overcome pain and disability.

About Women's Healthcare

We have focused on women's healthcare for more than 50 years. We have been providing a wide range of products for supporting women's lifestyles, including those for dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause that are mainly prescribed by gynecologists.
We started with the manufacturing of hormone drugs, which are difficult to control, and developed new drugs. Through various challenges and expanding our lineup, we have now become the largest manufacturer in Japan in this field.

About Biosimilars

Biosimilars (BS), also known as "follow-on biologics", are pharmaceuticals that have the same quality, safety, and efficacy as the reference biologics and are developed by different manufacturers. Since 2018, we have been in an exclusive partnership with the Icelandic company Alvotech for the commercialization of several biosimilars in Japan, strengthening the development and marketing of biosimilars in Japan. By promoting biosimilars, we will contribute to the reduction of the economic burden on patients and the optimization of medical expenses.

We aim to expand production and marketing not only in Japan but also globally, centering on its group company OLIC in Thailand. A wide variety of dosage forms can be manufactured in Thailand and Japan, and the collaboration between OLIC and Toyama Plant will enable us to meet various customer needs.

Fuji Pharma's Values (Strengths)

Fuji Pharma's strengths (values) can be summarized in the following four points.

- Contribution to women's health issues
- Production base for drug products with high barriers to market entry
- Experience in diverse research and development and production
- Management that values people first and foremost

Contribution to women's health issues

For nearly half a century, since we began marketing ethical pharmaceuticals for women in 1974, we have continued to take on the challenge of dealing with diseases specific to women.
The market for women's healthcare is considered to be smaller than other fields, and the number of companies entering the field is limited. In this context, we have been working in this field to respond to unmet needs with the belief of our company being uniquely capable of providing value.
Today, women's healthcare is one of our company's strengths, and we will continue to deepen our contributions in this area.

Manufacturing base for drug products with high barriers to market entry

We manufacture pharmaceuticals at two sites: Toyama Plant and OLIC in Thailand.
We have strengths in the production of drugs that are difficult to handle, such as sterile preparations and highly active pharmaceuticals, and have built a manufacturing base for products under strict quality control.
Hormone drugs used in women's healthcare, in particular, have a significant impact on the human body even in small amounts, so their manufacturing requires special equipment and specialized technology, making them an area with a high barrier to entry within the pharmaceutical industry.
We have been working in this field for many years, and this expertise is a great strength for us.

Experience in diverse research and development and production

We conduct pharmaceutical research and development primarily at the Toyama Research and Development Center and Tokyo Head Office. We have pursued a wide range of possibilities in pharmaceuticals, including new drugs, biosimilars, and generic drugs, regardless of genre. We will continue our research and development efforts to respond to the real needs of patients and healthcare professionals.

Management that values people first and foremost

Since our foundation, we have emphasized human capital management that values people based on the philosophy of "people first".
Based on the belief that the growth of each and every employee leads to the growth of the company, we have devoted ourselves to creating an environment in which employees can improve themselves through various challenges. We believe that the accumulated challenges and contributions of our employees lead us to realize our corporate philosophy of "Our corporate growth is proportional to our personal growth".

One of the mechanisms supporting this human capital management is our company's unique personnel evaluation system, called virtue-based evaluations.
Inspired by oriental thought, "virtue" in our company is defined as "doing one's best for others". This virtue is broken down into 7 items and 19 indicators, and employee behavior and attitude are reflected in the evaluation.
Through the practice of virtues, we believe that our attractiveness as employees and persons will increase, and that the increase in the number of such employees will lead to sustainable development by linking the growth of the entire organization with the enhancement of corporate value.

Our head office is located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and our domestic operations include the Toyama Plant and Research and Development Center in Toyama Prefecture. The pharmaceuticals produced are delivered to medical institutions nationwide through pharmaceutical wholesalers.
